30 May 2025 / Panama Canal, Panama
The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has revised some rules within the Transit Reservation (Booking) System.
All Neopanamax vessels classified with an HML of “C” that request a booking slot will now be included in the conditioned slot tiebreaker competition. This process ensures the efficient use of booking slots in compliance with established regulations, allowing eligible vessels to participate under defined conditions. By adhering to these criteria, the allocation of booking slots remains transparent and consistent for all involved. To maintain transparency and consistency in slot allocation, any vessel with an awarded conditioned slot will forfeit its booking if its HML code is changed and a forfeiture fee will be assigned. Additional, vessels with an awarded booking slot that declare a transit condition to avoid being assigned an HML of “C” will forfeit their booking slot. ACP may request supporting documentation from the customer to validate any changes in the transit condition that takes to a modification in the HML previously assigned.
For booking dates beginning June 14, 2025, vessels in all three size categories (Neopanamax, Super and Regular) will be required to be ready for transit by or before their required arrival time. Exceptions will be approved by ACP on a case-by-case basis upon request, based on the booked vessels and the vessel mix in the schedule. Customers requesting approval for a later ready time for transit must submit their request via email to [email protected] no later than 48 hours prior to the required arrival time.
