Houston Pilots have reinstated a maximum draft of 34’ for Anchorage A in Houston, effective immediately.
Prior to April 29 2015, the maximum draft permitted for vessels anchoring in Anchorage A was 34’. That limitation was removed on April 29 2015 based on updated hydrographic surveys and industry requests, with a maximum draft subject to space availability and Pilot discretion.
Over the last 12 months, a number of vessels with drafts exceeding 34’ have dragged anchor in Anchorage A, putting that ship and transiting ships at risk, hence the reinstatement of the 34’ maximum draft limitation.
