06 Dec 2017 / Australia
Australia's Department of Immigration and Border Protection's Maritime Global Processing Centre (MGPC) will be closed as follows over the upcoming Christmas and New Year period:
• from 4pm Friday 22 December 2017 until start of business, Thursday 27 December 2017;
and
• from 4pm Friday 29 December 2017 until start of business 2 January 2018.
No Maritime Crew Visas (MCVs) will be processed during this time.
MCV applications should be lodged at least 14 days prior to arrival in order to avoid any issues with delays to processing, crew arriving without visas, or associated punitive action. This means applications should be lodged:
• by 11 December 2017 for crew that will be arriving between 22-27 December 2017;
and
• by 18 December 2017 for crew that will be arriving between 29 December 2017 and 2 January 2018.
The Department's operational agency, the Australian Border Force, will remain operational on a continued 24/7 basis over the holiday period.
