Marine works in the Hung Hom Fairway

From 23 June and for approximately 8 months, marine works involving dredging, immersed tunnel unit installation and backfilling operations will be carried out within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (H):
(A) 22 deg. 17.965’N / 114 deg. 10.955’E

To alleviate the impact to marine traffic in the Hung Hom Fairway arising from the marine works, a section of the fairway will be temporarily diverted southwards with boundaries joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (J) to (R):
(J) 22 deg. 17.974’N / 114 deg. 11.456’E

(M) 22 deg. 17.339’N / 114 deg. 10.968’E
(N) 22 deg. 17.283’N / 114 deg. 10.462’E
(O) 22 deg. 17.483’N / 114 deg. 10.409’E
(P) 22 deg. 17.493’N / 114 deg. 10.909’E
(Q) 22 deg. 17.507’N / 114 deg. 10.939’E
(R) 22 deg. 17.554’N / 114 deg. 10.038’E

The works will be carried out by a flotilla of vessels including one dredger, two hopper barges, one flat top barge, four dumb lighters, one work boat, two special purpose vessels, four tugboats and two guard boats. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.

A working area of approximately 50 metres around each dredger, barge and lighter will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the dredger, barges and lighters.

The works will be carried out round-the-clock.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
