Marine works at Black Point Power Station

29 Jul 2021 / Hong Kong

For approximately 14 weeks, marine works involving dredging, seawall reinstatement and sheet pile installation are being carried out within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22° 24.916’N 113° 54.604’E
(B) 22° 24.985’N 113° 54.478’E
(C) 22° 25.194’N 113° 54.609’E
(D) 22° 25.095’N 113° 54.789’E

The works are being carried out by two dumb lighters. One tugboat and one guard boat will provide assistance.

A working area of approximately 50 metres around each lighter is established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights and radar reflectors are laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the lighters.

A silt curtain fitted with yellow flashing lights is established within the works area. The silt curtain is a large piece of netting used to contain mud and sediments.

The hours of work are round-the-clock.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
