Marine soil investigation works at Kusu Island & St. John’s Island

From 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2026, marine soil investigation works will be carried out at Kusu Island and St. John’s Island.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.158 of 2025, the work will be conducted 24 hours daily - including Sundays & public holidays – in the working areas bounded by the following coordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

3) 01°13·389'N / 103°50·893'E
4) 01°13·314'N / 103°50·856'E

5) 01°13·444'N / 103°51·517'E
6) 01°13·430'N / 103°51·499'E
7) 01°13·464'N / 103°51·469'E
8) 01°13·480'N / 103°51·487'E

Soil investigation works will be carried out using one jack-up barge.

Two tugs will be deployed to assist the positioning of the jack-up barge.

The jack-up barge will require a safe working zone of 30 meters radius centred at the barge.

A safety boat will be deployed to warn other craft in the vicinity of the working area.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 12 (East Control);
and
e) Communicate with East Control for assistance, as required.
