Marine site investigation south of Kau Yi Chau

For approximately 12 months, marine site investigation works involving drilling of boreholes and cone penetration tests will be carried out in the following works areas:

WORKS AREA 1
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following coordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (E):
(A) 22° 16.950’N 114° 05.216’E
(B) 22° 16.826’N 114° 05.532’E
(C) 22° 16.126’N 114° 04.713’E
(D) 22° 16.070’N 114° 03.949’E
(E) 22° 16.872’N 114° 04.183’E

WORKS AREA 2
This area is bounded by straight lines joining the following coordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (F) to (I):
(F) 22° 15.938’N 114° 04.494’E
(G) 22° 15.556’N 114° 04.047’E
(H) 22° 15.548’N 114° 03.797’E
(I) 22° 15.902’N 114° 03.900’E

The works will be carried out by four jack-up barges, three flat-top barges and two dumb lighters. Two tugboats will provide assistance. Vessels engaged in the works will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

A working area of approximately 50 metres around each barge and lighter will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from each flat[1]top barge and lighter. Yellow flashing lights will be installed at the four corners of each jack-up barge to indicate its position.

The hours of work will be from 0700 to 1900 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works areas outside the hours of work.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
