Marine site investigation at Kau Yi Chau Dangerous Goods Anchorage

For approximately two months, marine site investigation works involving sampling of subsea soil, drilling of vibrocores, boreholes and cone penetration tests will be carried out within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (G):
(A) 22° 16.975’N 114° 05.561’E
(B) 22° 15.392’N 114° 03.699’E
(C) 22° 15.529’N 114° 03.326’E
(D) 22° 15.721’N 114° 03.480’E
(E) 22° 15.988’N 114° 03.330’E
(F) 22° 16.300’N 114° 02.930’E
(G) 22° 16.775’N 114° 02.893’E

The works will be carried out by two flat top barges and one jack-up barge. One work boat and two tugboats will provide assistance. Vessels engaged in the works will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

A working area of approximately 50 metres will be established around each barge. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the flat top barges.

Yellow flashing lights will be installed at the four corners of the jack-up barge to indicate its position.

The hours of work will be from 0800 to 1800 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works area outside the hours of work.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
