Mandatory use of masks rescinded

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Panama has emitted Executive Decree No. 101, on July 1, 2022, which rescinds the mandatory usage of protective masks in all its national territory.

This decree [came] into effect on July 11, 2022, with the following exceptions where mask usage continues to be mandatory:

  • Public and private health installations,
  • Persons involved in the handling and, or sale of foods,
  • Public transportation both collective and private.

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) will continue providing protective masks to all its employees who wish to continue using masks. The voluntary usage of protective masks extends to all ACP personnel who are engaged in duties onboard transiting vessel, as well as vessels of local calls.
