LNG pipeline explosion

Emergency crews are on the scene of an explosion at an LNG pipeline near Holly Beach and Johnson Bayou, within the Lake Charles port area.

The incident occurred south of a compressor station on the 28-mile-long pipeline which connects to an offshore rig. One operator sustained minor injuries and has received medical attention.

The flow of natural gas from the rig has been shut off, and officials are allowing the line to burn out safely.

There are currently no channel restrictions or closures impacting traffic at the port.
