17 Nov 2015 / Panama Canal, Panama
While the current vessel backlog [in the Panama Canal] remains above normal levels, the waiting time for transiting vessels has diminished considerably in the past few days.
Therefore, Condition 1 is hereby being implemented effective November 20, 2015, with the following modifications:
* Only six slots (instead of the 8 slots regularly offered) will be made available to regular vessels (vessels with beams under 91 feet). The number of slots for vessels less than 300 feet in length will return to normal.
* The Just-In-Time (JIT) transit service will be limited to one (1) for each direction for supers as well as regulars.
Applications for reserved transits under the above-mentioned condition will be received beginning at 0900 hours, November 17, 2015.
