Oman Civil Aviation Authority has issued an alert of heavy thunderstorms and rainfall today (18 December) through to tomorrow (Friday 19 December) and warned against sailing during the alert period.
Heavy storms accompanied by strong downdraft winds over Musandam governorate are expected today with anticipated rainfall of 20-60mm, leading to occasional flashfloods and wadis.
The sea state may rise 2.0-3.5 metres along the Musandam governorate and Oman Sea coasts.
There is a chance of isolated rain with thundershowers over the governorates of Al Buraimi, A’Dhahirah, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, A’Dakhiliyah, Muscat, North A’Sharqiyah, South A’Sharqiyah and parts of Al Wista with occasional flashfloods, wadis and fresh downdraft.
There may be reduced visibility during thundershowers.
