Hantavirus: Mandatory submission of Maritime Declaration of Health

In light of reported cases of Hantavirus, all vessels calling at the Port of Fujairah must submit a valid Maritime Declaration of Health (MDH) with all other pre-arrival document prior to arrival at port limits.

In its Notice To Mariners No.374 dated May 15, 2026, the Port of Fujairah also states that:

  • Masters must immediately report any suspected or confirmed case of infectious diseases onboard their vessels.
  • Particular attention should be given to any suspected cases of symptoms associated with Hantavirus. Any suspected exposure, illness or related symptoms should be reported without delay.
  • Vessels must ensure all sanitary and preventive measures are maintained onboard in accordance with all applicable international health regulations and IMO guidelines.

Failure to comply may result in delays, restrictions or other control measures deemed necessary by the port and health authorities.
