As a mark of respect to Mr. S R Nathan, all Singapore-registered ships are to fly the Red Ensign at half-mast from 23 August 2016 to 26 August 2016.
The proper procedures for hoisting and lowering of the Red Ensign at half-mast are as follows:
a) When hoisting the flag, it should be hoisted to the finial for an instant, and then lowered to half-mast.
b) When lowering the flag at the end of the day, it should be hoisted to the finial for an instant, and then lowered.
