Fire at refinery

Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) have stated that the fire that broke out this morning (18 October) in the atmospheric residue desulphurisation (ARDS) unit of the Mina al-Ahmadi Oil Refinery has been brought under complete control.

The company's firefighting team were backed up Kuwait Fire Force, successfully controlled the fire, which was preceded by an explosion in the unit. Several workers suffered from smoke inhalation, some of whom were treated on-site. Others were taken to hospital and are now reported to be in stable condition.

KNPC say the refinery and export operations were not affected.
