04 Nov 2019 / Trincomalee, Sri Lanka
Night navigation equipment has been installed at Trincomalee harbour, enabling it to handle deep drafts, double capacity and make the port operational around the clock. Night navigation will be allowed soon.
Two 500 KW generators have been installed at the jetty and the yard of the Trincomalee port to facilitate night navigation. Trincomalee port has also been provided with a pilot boat to improve efficiency.
Planned corridor development and rail connections are forecast to see the port can emerge as important dry bulk and general cargo export hub.
