ECA Regulations for low sulphur fuel use

As per China’s ECA regulations, all ships calling at the below ports must use low-sulphur fuel (sulful content ≤0.5% m/m) while alongside (one hour after berthed to one hour before unberthed):

  • Shanghai
  • Ningbo
  • Zhoushan
  • Tianjin
  • Qinhuangdao
  • Tangshan-Caofeidian, Jingtang
  • Huanghua
  • Qinghuangdao
  • Jiaxing
  • Taizhou-Zhejiang Provience
  • Ports within the Yangzte River: Taicang, Changshu, Zhangjiagang, Nantong, Jiangyin, Jingjiang, Changzhou, Yangzhou, Taizhou, Zhenjiang, Nanjing
  • Guangzhou: Xinsha, Huangpu, Nansha
  • Hong Kong
  • Shenzhen
  • Dongguan
  • Zhuhai

From 1 January 2018, the ECA regulation will also be implemented at Dalian, Panjin, Jinzhou, Bayuquan and Huludao. All ships shall use low-sulphur fuel (sulful content ≤0.5% m/m) while alongside (one hour after berthed to one hour before unberthed).

From the same date, the new stage of ECA regulations will be implemented at Tianjin, Qinhuangdao, Huanghua, Caofeidian and Jingtang. Under the same, all ships shall use the fuel with sulfur content ≤0.5% m/m during berthing terminal of core ports.
