The work involves using a clamshell dredger to dredge the seabed and load the spoils into flat-top barges.
The clamshell dredger is secured by 4-point anchor mooring. The anchor is marked with flashing anchor buoys. Tugboats are deployed to manoeuvre the barges in and out of the working area.
Dredged spoils from the working area are loaded into a hopper barge. Once fully loaded, the hopper barge travels from the working area to the designated dumping ground via the approved dumping route, assisted by a pusher tugboat.
The above process will continue until the completion of the dredging works.
A safety boat will be deployed to warn other craft in the vicinity of the working area.
Craft involved in the works exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.
When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear and not to enter the work area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (Jurong Control);
and
e) Communicate with Jurong Control for assistance, as required.
