Dredging operations at Nim Wan, Deep Bay

18 Apr 2024 / Hong Kong

For approximately two months, dredging operations will be carried out in the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22°25.484’N 113°55.900’E
(B) 22°25.533’N 113°55.883’E
(C) 22°25.624’N 113°56.163’E
(D) 22°25.579’N 113°56.185’E

The works will be carried out by one dumb lighter. One tugboat will provide assistance. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements. Vessels engaged in the works will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

A working area of approximately 30 metres around the lighter will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the lighter.

A silt curtain will be established beside the lighter. The silt curtain is a large piece of netting used to contain mud and sediments. Yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the extent of the silt curtain.

The hours of work will be from 0800 to 1900 hours daily. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will not stay in the works area outside the hours of work.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
