Damage to lock-gate worse than expected

According to the authorities and appointed surveyors, the extent of the damage to the big south lock-gate from a collision earlier this week at Kiel-Holtenau is worse than originally anticipated.

Repairs have started and several salvage companies has been asked for advice. However, final repairs will likely be delayed for weeks.

The big south lock remains closed and only one big lock chamber is currently in operation at Kiel-Holtenau.
