Crew changes permitted in Reunion, subject to conditions

Crew changes are now permitted in Reunion for all seafarers (both EU and non-EU nationals), subject to the below conditions.

  • For non-EU seafarers, a visa (Outre-mer Ile de la REUNION) is compulsory and must be provided at the latest 96 hours before arrival. No visa will be issued in Reunion. It must be arranged in their respective countries. A Schengen visa is not accepted. Without this visa, non-EU Nationals are refused access to French Territory.

  • Crew change at OPL is still under MRCC control. Crew change at berth still under Harbor Master’s Office. Agreement from the above authorities must be given in advance.

  • The passports and tickets of on-signers and off-signers must be provided at the latest 96 hours in advance.

  • The Embarquement (for on-signers) and Débarquement (for off-signers) forms must be completed and provided at the latest 96 hours in advance.

  • Transfer of on/off-signers must be done directly from airport to port and vice versa.

  • If difficulty is experienced in getting a flight on time, it will be possible to place on-signers and off-signers in an approved center (hotel) until embarkation/disembarkation, if agreed by the Authorities and accepted by the hotel according to availability of rooms.

  • Crew change will be done by PILOT BOAT (2 people at a time) at 1.50 :2.0 nautical miles if MRCC agrees) or by SNSM BOAT if available (also subject to MRCC agreement).
