Crew change update

07 Jul 2020 / South Korea

All off-signers and crew taking shore leave must take a COVID-19 test and wait onboard the vessels for the result. It takes about one day to get results.

Once a negative COVID-19 is received, quarantine certificate will be issued and special quarantine inspection and immigration clearance will commence for off-signers. Shore leave is allowed for emergency cases only.

14-days quarantine at Korean government assigned facilities is required for off-signers after they finish quarantine inspection and immigration. The quarantine facility fee (including meals) is about KRW100,000~120,000 per day so total for 14 days will be about KRW1.400,000~1.680,000 (about USD1400). This fee should be paid when checking in by crew or ship’s owner.

Charges incurred, such as launch boat, hotel (quarantine facility) and transportation charge, will be for owners account. The COVID-19 test fee is covered by Korean government.

For vessels, the Quarantine Officer will arrange onboard inspection after the vessel’s arrival in port at anchorage or berth. Onboard quarantine inspection had been applied to vessels coming from China/Russia and some other COVID-19 contaminated countries but is now being applied to almost all countries.
