Conversion/Reversion of foreign going vessels

Any foreign going (FG) vessels, irrespective of flag, staying in Indian waters for more than 30 days, i.e. without visiting any foreign port in between, has to mandatorily undergo vessel conversion. This conversion may be done before completion of continuous stay of 30 days on request and subject to approval of the Immigration authorities.

In case of any foreign crew onboard vessel, he/she must be on a valid Indian visa, if he/she wishes to join/sign on the same vessel during conversion formalities.

In event of Pakistani crew and foreign supernumeraries onboard such vessel, they shall not be mandatorily signed off and shall be permitted to remain onboard.

The continuous stay up to 30 days is permitted under FG run category and Immigration conversion is independent of Customs Conversion.

Any such converted vessel which wants to sail to foreign port has to mandatorily undergo reversion procedure by Immigrations authorities.
