Construction of outfall structure & installation of silt curtains

The working period for the construction of an outfall structure and installation of silt curtains at the north-eastern coast of Changi has been extended.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.51 of 2018, the work will now be carried out 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – until 22 November within the working area bounded by the following coordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
1. 01 deg. 22.088’N / 104 deg. 00.899’E
2. 01 deg. 22.243’N / 104 deg. 00.948’E
3. 01 deg. 22.152’N / 104 deg. 01.150’E
4. 01 deg. 22.024’N / 104 deg. 01.095’E

Silt curtains will be installed by a crane barge. Tug boats will assist in the positioning of the crane barge during the installation work.

Construction of cofferdam with sheet piles, excavation and new outfall will be carried out by a vibro excavator upon completion of the silt curtains’ installation. Safety boats will be deployed in the area to warn other craft of the work.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) keep well clear and not enter the working area
b) maintain a proper lookout
c) proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution
d) maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 21 (Sembawang Control)
and
e) communicate with Sembawang Control on VHF Channel 21 for assistance, if required.
