Construction of containment bund involves a series of marine construction activities, including survey work, submergible sand bund construction, submergible intermediate bund construction, submergible stone revetment construction, management of dumping EM/DM (Excavated Material and Dredged Material) and marine soil investigation work such as borehole and seismic surveys.
During the construction, sand will be transferred from the stockpile area using hopper barges and tugboats, which will then discharge at the sand bund site.
The stone revetment will be installed using crane barge, work barge, and flat-top barge, while EM/DM materials will be dumped within the established containment bund by hopper barges.
Soil investigation work will be conducted using a jack-up barge.
Two tugboats will be deployed to assist the positioning of the jack up barge.
Safety boats will be deployed to warn other craft in the vicinity of the working area.
When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (Jurong Control);
and
e) Communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, as required.
