Condition Whiskey set

The U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port has notified Port Everglades that Condition WHISKEY will be set for Tropical Disturbance 99L as of 4 p.m. yesterday (25 August).

That condition coincides with the possible onset of tropical storm force winds within 72 hours. Preparations to be addressed at this time are:

  • Ensure your facility and employees are ready for potential storm impacts per your company’s severe weather plans.
  • Removal of potential flying debris and hazardous materials.
  • Reducing container stacking heights to a maximum of 4 high for full and empty boxes, and 2 high for containers with hazardous cargo.

The official Marine Safety Information Bulletin (MSIB), with information on all hurricane port condition requirements, can be found on the USCG Homeport website at http://homeport.uscg.mil in the Miami section of the Port Directory. It is also available on the Port’s website at porteverglades.net/about-us/weather/.
