Change of berth operator

16 Jul 2025 / Haldia, India

Universal Seaport Private Limited (USPL) has completed their contract tenure as operator of Haldia Berth 4B.

Ganges Bulk Terminal Private Limited is in the process of assuming role of berth operator, for mechanisation of Berth No. 4B, on a Build, Operate & Transfer basis. However, until they finalise the agreement with Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port - Kolkata, vessel allocations to Berth No. 4B have been put on hold.

During this period, only three MHC Berths - Nos.2, 8, & 13 (Berth 1, 9 & 14 as per new nomenclature) - are available for cargo operations at Haldia, potentially leading to increased berthing delays for dry bulk vessels.

According to the port authorities, the berth will transition to semi-mechanised operations initially and is expected to be fully mechanised by year 2027.
