Cessation of Force Majeure Event effective 1 November

29 Oct 2020 / Krishnapatnam, India

Through a notice dated 24 March 2020, owing to Covid-19 pandemic, the Khrishnapatnam Port Company Limited had notified a Force Majeure Event and stated that the port was not responsible for any claims, damages, charges, etc. whatsoever arising out of/or connected to the above Force Majeure Event, either directly or indirectly, which without any limitation would include vessel demurrages.

However, now in light of the various unlock guidelines issues by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India as well as by the respective State Government, as well as keeping in mind the fact that port services are categorized as “Essential Services”, we therefore in the interest to protect and secure the supply chain of the industries, inform the cessation of Force Majeure Event with effect from midnight on 1 November.

Although the impact of the said Force Majeure Event continues and the Khrishnapatnam Port Company contemplates the extent of its impact, the authority will endeavor to normalize the port services as soon as possible and practicable.
