Ahead of the Chinese New Year, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has issued a reminder to the shipping and port community on the importance of exercising extra caution, navigational prudence and best practices during festive seasons which see increased traffic and passenger ridership.
In its Port Marine Notice No.10 of 2016, the MPA encourages the shipping and port community to observe the following:
a) Observe safe navigation practices
b) Proceed at a safe speed
c) Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where applicable
d) Do not consume alcohol when navigating or operating machinery
e) Exercise caution when embarking and disembarking craft
