CASA Consortium appointed to handle foreign crew changes

29 Jun 2020 / Sri Lanka

The President of Sri Lanka has approved another service provider - the CASA Consortium - to handle crew change services of foreign seafarers in the country.

The new service provider is a consortium consisting of leading shipping agents with decades of experience handling crew and husbandry services for vessels in Sri Lankan waters. GAC is part of that consortium, and are geared to deliver reliable and high quality services complying to our stringent HSSE standards, to ensure smooth crew change operations are carried out on your behalf.

The CASA Consortium will handle below activities involving crew change in Sri Lanka:

  • Management of Isolation Centre
  • Administration of PCR tests at each point of entry – port & airport
  • Management of transport between Airport, Isolation Centre and Seaport

With the entry of new CASA Consortium, the capacity of handling foreign seafarers has increased.

The restrictions imposed by the Government on arrivals of foreign seafarers are still in effect but disembarking of foreign crew is allowed at the ports of Colombo and Galle.
