Cargo operations at Haldia’s Berth No. 5 (formerly Berth No. 4B) have been suspended since 7 November, as both Mobile Harbour Cranes (MHCs) are out of service.
The berth is expected to resume operations by February or March 2026, as it is understood that the existing cranes are unlikely to be repaired and new MHCs are expected to arrive by the end of December. This timeline may vary depending on the berth operator’s readiness.
Meanwhile, at Berth 14 (formerly Berth 13), only one MHC is available for operations. The crane currently undergoing maintenance may be ready by tomorrow (25 November).
