Canal strengthens operational efficiency with two new tugboats

The Panama Canal has incorporated two new tugboats into its fleet.

The “Isla Carenero” and “Isla Parida”, each measuring 27 metres in length and 12 metres in beam, play a key role in the daily operations of the Canal assisting ships during lock entry and exit, as well as their passage through the Culebra Cut. They are also essential to ensure safe, efficient transits through Neopanamax locks.

They are Z-Tech 6000 models, internationally recognised for energy efficiency, high operational performance and responsiveness.
