05 Jul 2016 / Port Kembla, Australia
The Deputy Harbour Master at Port Kembla has advised that while Berth 201 is undamaged, no bulk liquid discharge or loading is possible from it due to necessary repairs to the pipeline and ancillary equipment that serve it. Repair works are expected to be completed in about two weeks.
There is a possibility of bunkering by barge at the berth for ships carrying combustible or flammable cargoes during day light hours only.
Meanwhile, non-flammable cargoes may be discharged at berth 112, on a case-by-case basis, with some conditions including: no transit flammable cargoes on board; strictly maintained exclusion zone around the ship; electrical conduit that runs past the berth to be isolated for the duration of the ships visit; ships berthed adjacent are more than 40m away fore and aft. Tool box talks with BSS shore personnel include precautions on passing the area; etc., along with the standard conditions of tanker safety.
