Border restrictions extended

06 Apr 2021 / Finland

Border restrictions currently in force in Finland have been extended until 30 April, with the possibility of a further extension, as the Government prepares its ‘exit-plan’ to gradually lift COVID-19 restrictions.

As a result, only cruise calls without passenger shore leave and ship cruises through Finnish territorial waters are allowed.

Cargo operations at Finnish ports and terminals are running as normally as possible, with COVID-19 precautions being taken such as social distancing and physical meetings being avoided.

Crew changes are allowed at all ports in Finland. Restricted nationality on-signers must obtain Schengen visas in their home country before joining vessels in Finland. Visas on arrival (maximum 15 days) may be obtained with special permission if the seafarer is unable to obtain the visa before traveling (for example, if the local consulate is closed due to COVID-19). For restricted nationality off-signers, visas can be arranged by the agent.
