Border removal: impact on crew changes and cargo movements

From today (July 15, 2026), the border and routine immigration checks between Spain and Gibraltar is removed, effectively ending the land frontier that has existed for over a century.

Joining crew members covered by the ILO 108 exception will continue to transit Gibraltar as usual, with the Spanish border will be established at the airport.

New customs procedures will apply to reflect the change. For cargo, new T1 process has been implemented.

GAC has been working with local stakeholders ahead of the border removal, and is prepared to provide a tailored solution to help you navigate any changes.
