Availability of anchorages during monsoon period

During the foul weather season (expected from May 25 to August 31, 2026) the anchorage area of Mumbai’s inner harbour is restricted to a foul weather IV limit line, north of the Sunk Rock Light House position.

The number of anchorages that can be used will be restricted due to non-availability of those south of this line (including PLA anchorage for cargo operations) during this period.

Mumbai Port Authority will try to accommodate as many vessels as possible but may have to deny anchorage facilities due to non-availability. Cargo working anchorage berths will be allotted on a first come, first served basis, while other anchorages will be allotted for short periods only for vessels which have specific work at Mumbai, also on a first come, first served basis.

Vessels with no employment will not be accorded to ‘lay up anchorage, and are encouraged to find monsoon shelter elsewhere.
