Anchorage closure

Due to adverse weather, wind and swell conditions the Port Kembla anchorage was closed to shipping from 0700 hours local time yesterday (Sunday 5 March). Present indications are that it will reopen either tomorrow (7 March) or Wednesday, 8 March.

The Harbour Master has instructed all ships at anchorage to return back to sea and remain minimum 12 NM from shore.

The pilot ground and harbour is open to port movements and cargo operations are not affected.
