The anchorage at Port Kembla is closed to shipping since 1600 hours local time today (4 October) due to forecast strong winds. All ships are ordered to return to sea and remain minimum 12 nautical miles offshore.
There is currently no indication of when the anchorage is expected to reopen.
The port remains open to shipping movements.
