The Commissioner of Customs in Chennai has issued a notice to shipping lines discouraging any amendment to Bills of Lading (especially description, code, value, quantity, etc) after the shipment is loaded and Bill of Lading prepared at load port.
If any anomalies or clerical errors are found, appropriate action will be taken against the erring shipping line.
