The Suez Canal Authority has issued an amendment to its Circular No.2/2016, announcing that container ships coming from the east coast of America and heading for certain Asian ports are granted a reduction of transit tolls.

Container ships coming from the port of Norfolk and ports north of it, and headed for Port Kelang and its eastern ports, are granted a reduction of 45%.

Those coming from the ports south of Norfolk, headed for Port Kelang and its eastern ports are granted a reduction of 65%.

Container ships coming from ports south of Norfolk, and headed for Colombo and ports east of it up to Port Kelang, are granted a reduction of 55%.

Reduction rates shall be calculated only from the applicable transit tolls as per the table of duties + additional dues of extra tiers of containers.
