Airports to close to scheduled flights

26 Mar 2020 / Scottish Highlands & Islands, United Kingdom

Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd (HIAL) has confirmed that its 11 airports in the Scottish Highlands and Islands will close to scheduled flights due to the coronavirus outbreak. They will, however, operate a “skeleton service” to ensure lifeline and essential flights (for the NHS, Royal Mail and the oil & gas industry) continue.

Contingency arrangements will be implemented to ensure the airports continue to operate as required for lifeline and essential needs.
