Aberdeen Football Club’s women squad members celebrate becoming a semi-professional team, a milestone in the history of the GAC-sponsored club, coming at a time when women’s football is gaining greater prominence and efforts ramp up to boost equality and diversity in sport.
The celebration follows a successful season competing against more established teams and chimes with Aberdeen FC’s ambition to invest in the promotion of its female players.
Herman Jorgensen, GAC UK’s Managing Director, says: “Their new semi-pro status sends a powerful message that women mean business in every field.”
Under GAC’s sustainability strategy, companies throughout the Group are promoting diversity at work and at play - in line with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal No.5 (Gender Equality).
