First batch of COVID-19 pills delivered

One of the world’s first oral anti-viral treatments for COVID-19 is now available in the Philippines, after the first batch of Molnupiravir pills were cleared and delivered by GAC.

More than half a million pills in 13,110 packs were received, and once cleared through customs, delivered to Local Government Units (LGU) and hospitals throughout Philippines.

As Molnuparavir is a new product, the GAC team had to obtain a Compassionate Special Permit and meet stringent criteria for additional documentation and ensure it corresponded with the consignee.

Franco Zosa, GAC Philippines’ Head of Sales, says that organising the distribution of the pills was a complex operation which required close coordination with the government and partner.

“We are proud that we were able to offer the experience and expertise needed to ensure the speed and reliability when it comes to handling these precious shipments,” he adds.

GAC expects to handle more of the pills, as more shipments arrive in the Philippines in the near future.
