Neopanamax Locks maximum authorized draft update

21 Feb 2022 / Panama Canal, Panama

Recent rainfall in the Panama Canal watershed during the past few days has allowed the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) to postpone the implementation dates of the first draft reduction in the Neopanamax locks announced in Advisory to Shipping A-02-2022.

Based on the present and projected level of Gatun Lake for the following weeks, the maximum authorized draft for vessels transiting the Neopanamax locks will remain at 15.24 m (50.0 feet) TFW until March 8, 2022. Effective March 9, 2022, the maximum authorized draft in the Neopanamax locks will be 15.09 m (49.5 feet) TFW.
