Government begins operations at Balboa and Cristóbal

The Port of Balboa [has] received its first vessel since the Government assumed operations of two of Panama’s principal port terminals, marking a decisive step toward the normalization of services.

The terminals in question are the Ports of Balboa and Cristóbal. Initial operational tests included container movements and the activation of the Terminal Operating System (TOS) to manage cargo inventory at the Port of Balboa…

…The Minister for Canal Affairs, José Ramón Icaza, together with Adolfo Fábrega, Administrator of the Government Innovation Authority (AIG), and Luis Roquebert, Administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority (PMA), confirmed the reopening of the Port of Balboa’s gate for export cargo, empty containers, and rolling stock…

… the terminals could begin receiving vehicles for cargo pick-up operations, covering import shipments as well as general cargo awaiting retrieval at the ports.
