United Kingdom (UK), 22 January 2013 - GAC is continuing its support of the UK-based Team Raleigh cycling squad for another two years. The global shipping and logistics provider will also continue to meet all the team’s logistics needs until 2015.
With cycling experiencing a tidal wave of popularity in the UK in the wake of British athletes’ successes in the 2012 Tour de France and London Olympics, the team’s launch created considerable interest. GAC ambassadors former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan and Nottingham-born former England footballer Viv Anderson were at the event at Raleigh's UK headquarters in Nottingham to mark the start of the new cycling season.
Raleigh’s Marketing Director Geoff Giddings said: "2012 was a highly successful year for the team, seeing us achieve over 50 podium places, including wins in high profile races such as the UK Tour Series and the Vuelta Mexico. We are determined to build on this as we continue in our desire to reach the pinnacle of professional cycling."
As part of the GAC sponsorship deal, signed today, GAC’s logo will feature on riders’ jerseys as well as on Team Raleigh’s support vehicles, website and promotional materials. VIP hospitality will also place GAC clients in the heart of the action at races, and Team Raleigh members will represent GAC at corporate events.

It was also a year that saw a huge rise in interest in cycling, after the achievements of riders like Bradley Wiggins.
