Indonesia, 8 January 2015 – GAC Samudera Logistics boosted its service capability by starting the first cold chain warehousing service of its kind in Indonesia, in the Bekasi area, approximately 30km east of Jakarta.

The cold chain distribution centre, with a total of seven chambers, meets the strict quality and hygiene requirements of clients from the food, medical and pharmaceutical industries.

The distribution centre is powered by a state-of-the-art cooling system, making it Indonesia’s first CO2 cold chain distribution centre. The CO2 cooling system is more environmentally friendly compared to conventional technology, which uses ammonia or other common refrigerants, which are toxic and consume more energy.
The facility is built to meet all international standards for cold storage in terms of construction specifications, flooring, racking system, to name a few, and was designed to meet strict quality and hygiene standards of food, medical and pharmaceutical industries.
Fully equipped
The cold chain distribution centre has six independent chambers with temperatures ranging from -25°C to 5°C and one chamber for chilled temperatures of 0°C to 8°C. The chambers are separated from one another with anti-bacterial panels. Installed with a double-deep rack system, the facility can accommodate a storage volume of more than 6,000 standard pallet positions, and is fully equipped with plastic pallets to meet high industry standards. In addition to storage space, the fully-equipped facility has a dedicated product processing or customisation area, office space, mechanised material handling equipment, pest control system and 24/7 power backup.
The facility is accessible to all truck types from small one-tonner trucks to 40-feet containers. Its 12 loading/unloading docks allow for swift loading and unloading.
