GAC Bunker Fuels’ Nicholas Browne among winners of Seatrade Maritime #20Under40 Awards

Recognition for stand-out work on corporate sustainability strategy

Nicholas “Nick” Browne, Global Director of GAC Bunker Fuels Ltd., is one of the 20 top young maritime professionals recognised in this year’s Seatrade Maritime Standard #20Under40 Awards.

The accolade recognises the 39-year-old’s efforts, innovation and achievements paving the way for change in the maritime industry, in particular sustainability initiatives pursued in the bunker fuel supply market by GAC Bunker Fuels Ltd. The company has set a net carbon zero target for 2030 with an aim to transit progressively to alternative fuels such as LNG, methanol, ammonia and biofuel to help its customers on their decarbonisation journey.

Nick also heads up the working group driving GAC’s Sustainability Strategy based on actions related to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Companies throughout the Group are now working towards a range of key measurable economic, environmental and social targets, including reaching Net Zero Carbon in our operations by 2050.

Nick is grateful for being nominated for and named among the winners of the #20Under40 awards, which puts the spotlight on young managers still under 40.

“Through these awards, Seatrade Maritime Middle East recognises the contribution of young people in the industry, in particular related to sustainability and digitalisation,” he says. “That brings us together as a network for positive change fuelled by the vision and enthusiasm of our sector’s young professionals.

“The award is also an important validation of GAC Bunker Fuels as the first bunkering company to pledge zero oil-based bunker sales by 1 January 2030. It will motivate our team, customers and suppliers to continue through the challenges of the industry’s decarbonisation journey.”
