GAC Brazil customers can now enjoy a simplified customs clearance process leading to faster clearance and reduced storage and other related costs after the company has been granted Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status by the Brazilian government.

Certification was granted under a programme which recognises and certifies service providers as low risk and reliable strategic operators.

To qualify, the company had to meet the criteria of the Federal Revenue of Brazil fulfilling the requirements and criteria set by AEO programme related to physical cargo security and compliance with customs and fiscal obligations. Only companies whose management processes minimise the risks that exist in their foreign trade operations and demonstrates their commitment to Customs Conformity and Security in their logistics chain are granted certification.

GAC Brazil’s Quality and Compliance Manager, Marco Jacobsen, spearheaded the rigorous process to fulfill the requirements, including demonstrating the company’s solvency, as well as a computer-based system to manage commercial, tax, financial and operational records, commercial and resources policies, and a compliance programme.

“This is a tremendous milestone for us as we mark 15 years of operations in the country,” says Thiago Luz, GAC Brazil’s Sales Manager - Logistics. “The certification emphasises our commitment to transparent processes and procedures in line with our Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) commitment to deliver trusted and compliant quality logistics services to our customers.”
