Overview
Because of its location in the path of major sea routes, Sri Lanka is a strategic naval link between West Asia and South East Asia. The country is renowned for its production and export of tea, coffee, coconuts and rubber, and it is also a popular tourist destination. It is moving steadily towards an industrialised economy with the development of food processing, textiles, telecommunications and finance sectors.
The on-off Civil War between the Government and Tamil separatists that started in 1983 ended in May 2009, and since then efforts have concentrated on redeveloping the country.
GAC Sri Lanka offers a comprehensive range of professional shipping, Marine and logistics services.
Sri Lanka’s strategic location close to the major shipping routes to and from the Far East makes it an important transshipment Hub for the region. From its base at Galle, GAC Sri Lanka provides a Ship Supply Service to serve international shipping traffic lanes off the southern tip of the island nation.
We operate a registered foreign recruitment agency for the GAC Group and other organisations worldwide.
Sri Lanka is also home to GAC Bunker Fuels, reflecting its importance as a bunkering location. Latest additions to the operation are embarkation/disembarkation facilities off Galle for Sea Marshals and introduction of STS at Colombo/Galle Anchorage & OPL
